Our gift shop artist of the month for July is local artist Pat Moodie! If you saw the Fairbanks Arts Membership (F.A.M.) exhibition at the Bear Gallery last January, you likely saw Pat’s glass and recycled lamp. We are pleased to be hosting more of Pat’s lamps in our gift shop during the month of July!
From Pat: “With all my art I try to recycle whenever possible. For the last 6 or 7 years, I have been working with IA Greenstar using the cast-off computers and other electronics brought to them for recycling. I have taken a new direction recently and am making table lamps that look like flower arrangements. The flowers and foliage are made from the acrylic that comes from computer monitors and TV screens. Over the years I have been saving this acrylic because I always thought it was so beautiful, and I finally figured out a way to use it!”

COVID-19 mitigation measures: Fairbanks Arts’ board of directors has approved COVID-19 mitigation measures that include (but are not limited to):
- In following the CDC’s current mask guidelines, wearing a mask is highly encouraged but not required for vaccinated individuals.
- Social distancing of no less than 6ft apart must be observed within the Bear Gallery.
- The current limit of visitors in the gallery at one time is 15 individuals.
- Our COVID-19 mitigation plan involves the frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces to ensure the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this effort to stay open while supporting artists and arts supporters safely and responsibly.
