Fairbanks Covid-19 Mutual Aid Volunteer Sign Up: If you are interested in joining a group of volunteers based in neighborhoods throughout Fairbanks to assist in supporting your neighbors when you are able, you can sign up here!
Volunteers needed to assist food security agencies: Many food security agencies depend on volunteers for their services. Many volunteers are senior citizens. Because our elders need to stay safe, anti-hunger organizations everywhere are experiencing a severe shortage of help. If you, or people you know, are low-risk & comfortable serving the Fairbanks community during these difficult times, please reach out to the Bread Line, the Fairbanks Senior Center, the Fairbanks Community Food Bank or ANY nonprofit that provides essential services to our most vulnerable neighbors.
If you are doing your part to help by social distancing from home but still want to help nonprofits you care about, remember you can make a contributions through Pick.Click.Give from your PFD! Permanent Fund Dividend applications are available from January 1 to April 30 (deadline has been extended), though Alaskans may choose to add or adjust their pledges online through August 31. There are many nonprofits doing good work that you can support!
For Artists, Arts Contractors, and Arts Organizations
Our friends at the Alaska State Arts Council and Alaska Arts & Culture Foundation are maintaining a page of resources for artists! Rather than duplicate their efforts, any new resources we come across will be sent to AACF to help the page linked above stay updated!
To be eligible for a relief grant, applicants must be:
- Practicing artists able to demonstrate a sustained commitment to their work, careers, and a public audience;
- Experiencing dire financial emergencies due to the COVID-19 pandemic;
- 21 years of age or older;
- Able to receive taxable income in the U.S. (e.g. citizen, green card holder, and/or permanent resident who can provide a W9 and SSN or ITIN);
- Residing and working in the U.S. for the last two years;
- Not a full-time employee, board member, director, officer, or immediate family member of any of the coalition partners;
- Not previously awarded a relief grant from this fund.

Poetry Out Loud: Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition to high schools across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. While this program includes a recitation contest, we encourage you enjoy the large database of poetry on the POL website!
