Mary Ann FortuneMy journey to Alaska was made with my two canine companions Pete and Ebony. We arrived on July 1, 1992.  I was born in Southern California, living multiple years throughout the South Pacific, Caribbean, and South Florida. Arriving in Fairbanks, I felt an immediate sense this was to be my forever home.

I have been active in the Fairbanks’ art community since 1994. My sculptured Ravens are my second accomplished copyright. The distinctive influence of my sculpting technique captures both the Raven’s dignified presence, as well as, their whimsically entertaining antics. The resulting expression of each sculpture personifies the mischievousness of the Raven’s clever humor.

Raven Spirits sculptured Ravens are a creative fusion of mixed media. For every ‘one’ Raven nearing completion, visions of several others have already arrived. My sculptured Ravens are a personal and entertaining journey.

They are intended to serve as a reminder that life should never be taken too seriously.

It is my wish that you will enjoy them with the same delight as they were conceived.

October Watercolor Corner

Janice Cleworth
Janice has spent most of her life in Fairbanks and is married to Jerry Cleworth.  They have two daughters and five wonderful grandchildren. After college, Janice worked for the school district as a Speech/Language Pathologist.

Her first actual lessons in watercolor were at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in 2006.  Since then, she has taken lessons with Tom Nixon, painted with friends in California and Oregon, and taken workshops sponsored by the FWS and Summer Arts Festival.  Although she has had an interest in art since childhood, she did not pursue that until she retired. She also enjoys singing, quilting, and other fiber arts. She loves to meld the things she has learn from watercolor into quilted creations.
