Call for Art: 2021 Bear Gallery Exhibitions

Entry Period: August 1 – October 31, 2019

The Visual Arts Committee of Fairbanks Arts Association invites artists and artisans from Alaska to submit for review digital images of their work for possible sologroup, or curated exhibitions in the Bear Gallery for the year 2021. Every month, the Bear Gallery shows two fine arts exhibitions by Alaskan artists / artist groups working in a variety of media to local and out-of-town visitors of Fairbanks. Portfolios are reviewed by a panel of professional Alaskan artists and are chosen solely on the merit of the work samples entered.

Portfolios may propose the following type of exhibitions:

  • Solo Exhibit: One Artist
  • Group: Separate works of two or more artists
  • Curated: Curator selects theme, conceptual focus, and included artwork.

The submission deadline is October 31, 2019,
11:59pm MST.

Eligibility

This call is open to residents of Alaska ages 18 or older. An individual artist may have a solo exhibit in the Bear Gallery once every four years. Artists who have had a solo exhibition prior to 2017 are eligible for consideration this year (curated exhibits are not subject to this policy).

NOTE: Artists may submit only one solo proposal. Group proposals consisting of a juried component, a call for entry, or an exhibit entry fee cannot be submitted for portfolio review. Curated and Group exhibits must have an organizing representative.

Submitting a Portfolio for Review

The application process will be handled through the CaFÉ (Call for Entry.org) website. CaFÉ has become an industry standard, pulling together thousands of calls for art into one location. Once you have your artist profile and portfolio set up on CaFÉ, applying to multiple calls for art is simple and efficient.
