Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery for our October exhibition, the 36th Annual 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition. This exhibition features artwork by Interior Alaskan artists selected by this year’s juror, Allison Baker.

Fairbanks Arts would like to congratulate our 2022 awardees and thank everyone who participated in this year’s 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our juror, Allison Baker.
64th Parallel is on view in the Bear Gallery from October 7-28, 2022. The gallery will be open from 12–7 p.m. on Friday, October 7 for the opening day, with an opening reception from 5–7 p.m. For the rest of the month, join us Monday–Saturday, 12–6 p.m.
64th Parallel Exhibition had a blind jury process for selection and awards. The blind jury took place on Monday, October 3, with Allison Baker. Allison was able to see the titles of the artworks but not the artist’s names.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Allison Baker will give an artist talk covering her artwork, the inspiration, and concepts behind her work, as well as her accomplishments. Join us to learn more about this year’s 64th Parallel juror! This event is free and open to the public. Masks are recommended.
Juror: Allison Baker
Allison earned her MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, a BFA in Sculpture, and a BA in Gender Studies from Indiana University.
Her work investigates hegemonic femininity as a site of transgression and resistance with tongue planted firmly in cheek. She deploys irony and the abject to make space for pondering the soul-crushing banalities of what many might term “women’s work.”
Allison is an Associate Professor of Sculpture and Studio Art at Hamline University where she tries to impart some knowledge of finesse, persuasion, and manual labor.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally at the CICA Museum in South Korea, the Zverev Centre of Contemporary Art in Moscow, the Knockdown Center in New York, and Franconia Sculpture Park where her work is currently exhibited. Baker is passionate about inclusion and equity in metal casting and has presented “Pedagogies on Inclusion” at the ICCCIA and NCCIAP.
The Artist’s Toolkit: Workshop with Allison Baker

In this workshop, this year’s 64th Parallel Exhibition juror Allison Baker will cover Instagram for artists, documenting artwork, finding residencies, calls for entry, and artist bios. The final hour will be an artist statement freewriting workshop. Please bring a notebook in which to write. Attendees are asked to pre-register below; there will be a cap of 25 attendees. Masks are recommended.
The workshop fee is $15 for Fairbanks Arts members and $20 for non-members.
