Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Description

Fairbanks Arts Association is seeking a Communications and Outreach Coordinator to join our team. The Communications and Outreach Coordinator works in cooperation with Fairbanks Arts staff and is focused on increasing, broadening, and deepening program participation, as well as making the general public aware of Fairbanks Arts programs and activities. Planning and implementing promotional strategies for all our programs is a core responsibility of this position, which includes creating content and designing promotional materials for media and target audiences, as well as executing media campaigns on a variety of web-based platforms. The position pays $17/hr, is full-time with 35-40 hours per week, and reports to the Executive Director. This position is an opportunity for someone to dive into the Fairbanks Arts community and is ideal for someone who thinks critically, takes initiative, and enjoys learning and contributing in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization
  • Demonstrated ability with social media marketing and promotional strategies with knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Strong aesthetic sense with knowledge of layout and design for print and web-based promotional materials
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite products
  • Ability to work with staff members, volunteers, and patrons with a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment and often in a collaborative manner
  • Experience working in a non-profit arts organization is preferred

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Program Coordinator to plan, promote and present all Fairbanks Arts programs, events, and activities
  • Develop strategies for the promotion of Fairbanks Arts programs, events, and activities including identifying target audiences and the most effective methods of reaching them
  • Maintain and coordinate in-house marketing/communications schedule
  • Plan and manage external communication efforts, including but not limited to publicity for events, program launches, breaking news, etc. while coordinating with appropriate staff on all public relations activities
  • Produce materials to create cohesive image and messaging for all print and online communications, including but not limited to newsletter, brochures and info kits, various fundraising materials, invitations and letters, press kits, social media
  • Update community calendars with all Fairbanks Arts Association events
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local and regional press contacts
  • Maintain and update the Fairbanks Arts website (WordPress), utilize social media to reach target audiences, distribute direct mail and email promotions, and develop other web-based promotions
  • Maintain databases of community and press contacts
  • Develop and maintain databases for select programs and events
  • Monitor and catalog all media coverage of Fairbanks Arts Association activities across print, broadcast, and social media outlets
  • Provide weekly communications and outreach updates to FAA staff
  • Provide periodic communications and outreach updates to FAA advisory program committees
