Open Now: Register your Artwork for 64th Parallel

Fairbanks Arts Association (FAA) invites artists (18+) residing in Interior Alaska to enter original artworks for consideration in the 40th Annual 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition! Artists are welcome to submit up to four (4) artworks through the online registration form linked at the bottom of this post, or in person. Fairbanks Arts holds annual juried exhibitions to showcase new work by Interior Alaskan artists and contracts with artists, university faculty, curators, and museum professionals (statewide and nationwide) to assure the broadest spectrum of critical appraisal for our exhibitions. The juror will select works that align with their curatorial vision for the exhibition, taking into consideration the artworks’ creative and technical merits when making their determinations.

We are pleased to share that our 2026 guest juror is Christopher Burch! Learn more about this year’s juror below.

Guest Juror: Christopher Burch

Christopher Burch is an artist and educator based in San Francisco, CA, and St. Louis, MO. He received the Painting Fellowship for his graduate studies at the San Francisco Art Institute (MFA 2008).

He shows globally and has exhibited with The Museum of African Diaspora, Luggage Store Gallery, White Walls Gallery, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and The Headlands Center for the Arts.

Christopher Burch’s works conflate the distinctions between lived/living human experience, mythology, folklore, and history. Otherworldly yet infused with a gripping sense of reality. Within Burch’s works, influenced by the accounts of painting, narrative, portraiture, landscape, folklore, surrealist literature, and Black rituals of transfiguration (both sacred and secular), we see life and death, rebirth, retribution, and the afterlife as an ever-evolving thematic structure. Here, we see the artist as a storyteller, expounding upon human testimony, at the intersection of myth, identity, and power, as a transmutable force within lived, living, and felt experience.
