Fairbanks Arts is hosting a Teaching Artist Training for artists interested in becoming certified for the Artists in Schools (AIS) Program, matching artists with K–12 schools in Fairbanks North Star Borough School District for artistic residencies. AIS residencies span traditional and contemporary art forms, including music, dance, traditional Alaska Native art, media and digital arts, visual arts, literary art, and drama.
Date: Saturday, August 22–Sunday, August 23, 2026
Time: 10 a.m.–4:30 pm both days
Location: Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center classroom, 101 Dunkel St, Fairbanks, AK 99701
Registration Fee: $50 for non-members, $45 for members
Teaching Artist Qualifications:
- Practicing artist (any discipline)
- Interested in working with students
- Availability during the school year
- Completion of the Teaching Artist Application process
Application Materials: In addition to completing the training, artists must submit a resume, three professional references, a digital work samples portfolio, conduct an interview with Fairbanks Arts, and pass a background check.
