At the extremes, he is a six-time state and one time national champion fencer, winner of the Farthest North Fiction Contest, and a prize-winning slam poet. More typically, he directs museum exhibitions and travels to write and photograph research fieldwork funded by the likes of the NSF and National Geographic. This last year, his fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The Maine Review, Dunes Review, Into the Void Magazine, Crab Fat Magazine, Circle Show, and Whiskey Island Magazine. Additional work is forthcoming at the Bennington Review.
