This First Friday is a double feature in the Bear Gallery! Fairbanks Arts celebrates Alaska Book Week with a book signing by science fiction writer David Marusek and holds the Opening Reception for the Annual 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition.

See what artwork Juror Emily Nachison, Fiber Department Chair and Assistant Professor at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, Oregon, has selected for the Annual 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition. Awards for Juror’s choice, second place, third place, and the Jared Baker “Gutsy Art Award” will be presented during the First Friday opening reception.

David_Marusek2016Celebrate Alaska Book Week the first week of October! Join Fairbanks Arts for a special book signing by award-winning local author, David Marusek, for his book Upon This Rock, an epic new science fiction series about faith, family, and alien invasion. Set in Alaska, of course.

David Marusek will also be the instructor for the Nov 11 & 12 workshop Writing in the Dark: Worldbuilding for Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers, so this is a great chance to check out his writing meet him in person.
