Literary Reading, August 5, 7pm: Leah Aronow-Brown

Fairbanks Arts Association is the proud host
of the oldest Literary Reading in Alaska.

Readings are usually held in the Bear Gallery the first Saturday of the month.

Leah Aronow-Brown will be reading from her own work and that of LaVedi Roberta Lafferty, in memory of her longtime friend.

leah aronow-brown_bazaar 2015 snippedOriginally from Boston, Leah Aronow-Brown has been in Alaska since 1976. She has a BA from Harvard University in Psychology and Metaphysics and an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Leah is mainly a poet and lyricist but also writes magazine articles and short fiction, and is currently working on several nonfiction books. She has had various poetry and articles published over the years and has won first place the Alaska Statewide Poetry Contest and third place in the Helen Keller International Memoir Writing Competition.

Leah is also a singer/songwriter/instrumentalist and has a jewelry and fiber design business.

 

LaVedi Roberta Lafferty

LaVedi Roberta Lafferty came to Alaska in 1960 where she homesteaded until around 1971. She made Alaska her home and recorded much of her Alaskan journey in poetry over many years until she passed away in 2014. She had a BA in Journalism from UAF and was the co-author, along with Bud Hollowell, of The Eternal Dance, a book about reincarnation.
