Fairbanks Arts Association is Now Accepting Entries for the 23rd Annual Statewide Poetry Contest judged by Jeremy Pataky.
The purpose of the contest is to encourage, publicize and reward the writing of high quality poetry. The winners of the Statewide Poetry Contest will read their poems at a literary reading in April, 2017 in the Bear Gallery.

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Open to Alaska residents only.
- No more than four poems per author may be entered.
- All poems must be original and not previously published.
- Must be typed or formatted to an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of
paper and may not exceed 100 lines in length.
- Complete an entry form which includes name, address, phone number and
division (adult, high school, middle & elementary school)
as well as the titles of all poems submitted. (Note: The author’s name should not appear on any poems.)
Entry Fees:
Elementary, Middle and High School: $3 per poem or $10/four poems.
Adults: $4 per poem or $13/four poems
Class entries (if you are a teacher entering poems for your whole class): $1 per poem

2017 Statewide Poetry Contest Judge: Jeremy Pataky
About our Judge:
Jeremy Pataky is the author of Overwinter (University of Alaska Press | Alaska Literary Series). His poems and essays have appeared in Colorado Review, Black Warrior Review, The Southeast Review, Cirque, Ice Floe, Anchorage Press, some anthologies, and more. Jeremy earned an MFA at the University of Montana and a BA at Western Washington University. He’s a former first place winner of both the FAA Statewide Poetry Contest and the UAA/ADN Creative Writing contest, and was a Poetry Out Loud state finals competition judge. He is a founding former board member and now Interim Executive Director of 49 Writers, and also coordinates the Rasmuson Foundation Artist Residency Program. He splits his time between Anchorage and McCarthy.
