The Bear Gallery is located on the third floor of the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts building in Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way, Fairbanks, Alaska.
Join Fairbanks Arts and Corlis Taylor in the Bear Gallery for a beautiful evening dedicated to all things quilting! This talk will focus on the quilt-making process and the quilts in this show. Corlis will take time to discuss what makes a quilt a quilt and the elements of quilt design.
“I love using vintage fabric in wearable art. I used Japanese ikat fabrics that are recycled from vintage garments. The dyed threads are woven in intricate patterns. I used 40 different ikat pieces plus a few solid-color fabrics. Covered buttons round out the look of the vest.” – Coris Taylor
