Patterns of Influence 2016: Vessel

A juried exhibit for artists of the Interior. This is the only themed show that FAA presents.

Fairbanks Arts Association invites artists to interpret and submit art for the Bear Gallery’s 2016 themed exhibit, Vessel. Exhibit prospectus is available at the Bear Gallery or online here: 2016 Patterns of Influence- Vessel.

Fairbanks Arts is pleased to announce that the 2016 guest juror will be artist, Barbara Lavallee of Anchorage.

About the Juror

Born in Iowa and raised in Wisconsin, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1964.  Six years later, I arrived in Alaska to teach art at Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka. It was there that I found my voice as an artist.  I learned about Native Culture and village life through the eyes of my students.  I’ve been painting Alaska and Alaskans for 45 years. It is the people: their traditions, their work and play, their cultures and their humor that interest me most. Painting in transparent watercolor, I show my paintings and prints at various galleries around Alaska and the Northwest.

I have illustrated 16 Children’s books, completed two books about my work and have designed 3 collections of fabric for quilters.
