COVID-19 mitigation measures: Fairbanks Arts’ board of directors has approved COVID-19 mitigation measures that include (but are not limited to):

  • Visitors to the Bear Gallery must wear a mask. We ask that visitors bring their own masks, but should a visitor be without one, we have a limited supply we can give out. 
  • Social distancing of no less than 6 ft apart must be observed within the Bear Gallery.  
  • Our COVID-19 mitigation plan involves the frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces to ensure the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff.

Escaping the Wind by Ina Timling

Intertwining Worlds

Ina Timling is a printmaker based in Fairbanks, Alaska. After completing her Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Alaska- Fairbanks, she started taking printmaking classes with Todd Sherman and David Mollett. Since then, she has participated in several exhibitions in Fairbanks and Anchorage (AK) as well as Solomon (MD). 

In this exhibition, Ina explores the intertwining worlds in which she finds herself; her childhood home in Northern Germany and her current home in Alaska, as well as the worlds of science and art.

Ina Timling will be at the opening reception in the Bear Gallery on Friday, May 6 from 5-7 pm. 

Chasing Lakes: a conversation and reading with Ina Timling and Katey Walter Anthony
Saturday, May 28 at 6:00 pm in the Bear Gallery

This event will feature a conversation between author and scientist Katey Walter Anthony and Ina Timling; including a set of vignettes showing the intersection of science and art. Intertwining Worlds features block prints, some of which were featured in Katey’s new book, Chasing Lakes. During this event, Ina and Katey will discuss their collaboration, followed by Katey showing slides and reading excerpts from Chasing Lakes.
