Gazebo Nights: Summer Performance Series

The De Anne and Eric FiascoGazebo Nights Summer Performance Series features live performances every night of June, July, and August. Performances take place in the white gazebo near Gold Rush town in Pioneer Park and are FREE to attend from 7-8pm. If there is rain, sometimes performances will take place indoors in the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts. (If there is a cancellation, if possible we will post on our Fairbanks Arts Facebook page as soon as we know).

David Snyderman, Standards & Country Rock

Music Dave is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who has been sharing his music here in Alaska for over a decade! He arrived here with the US Army David Syndermanaround the turn-of-the-century and started playing guitar during the long winter nights. His musical sets are full of original songs about laughter love and travel, and they sometimes carry a positive spiritual overtone. He also peppers in a few favorites by inspirations such as John Prine, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny cash! Follow “Music Dave and the Iceworms” on Facebook!

O Tallulah, Harmonious Country FolkOtallulah

O Tallulah is a mother-daughter trio with a mix of country, and folksy homemade songs flavored with Southern mountain country and gospel influences. Members of the group are Rebecca Johnson and Alisa Williams who were born and raised in the Golden Heart city, both being graduates of UAF. Angelia Williams rounds out the group and has called Fairbanks home for almost 50 years.

The De Anne and Eric Fiasco, Acoustic duo offering a mix of blues, folk, and rock and roll

The De Anne and Eric Fiasco features a husband and wife duo DAEF at Girdwoodplaying a mix of classic rock, folk, and country tunes with a Fairbanks twist. De Anne is the child of a military family, and accordingly was born in Japan, raised in Germany, and has been in Alaska since the age of 12.  Eric was born and raised on the brutal prairies of North Dakota and moved to Alaska in 1993 for the nicer winters.

Arieal View Kendell trains in all styles of dance from tap to ballet, breakdancing to contemporary and so many more.  Kendell teaches Hip Hop and Ballroom in the Fairbanks Area and is the creator and  Director for the successful Dance REVolution Crew. She has been training on aerial silks, hammock, and Lyra since 2011 and began teaching private lessons in 2014.

Dance REVolution Crew is a community organization partnered with UAF whose mission is to become an integral part of Fairbanks by recruiting new community members and continuing to create and distribute new art. The Crew is open to everybody age 18 and up and no dance experience is needed.  We perform and learn all styles of dance to all kinds of music. Hip hop to ballroom. Contemporary to Jazz.

Tiffany is professionally trained and certified in American Ballroom and Latin dance through the National Dance Council of America. She has been teaching professionally for over 4 years and teaches many dance styles including, but not limited to Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Salsa, Lindy, Cha-Cha, Merengue, Bachata, and many more! She was named VIP for the Arthur Murray Boston Area in 2016, and was ranked one of the top 15 world instructors for two consecutive years in a row. She’s trained with coaches from all over the word including Snow Urbin from So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars.

North Star Ballet Dance Collective is a group of classically trained project dancers, committed to the vitality and accessibility of fine arts in interior Alaska. Ensemble members include Kevin Hankins, Madeline Hunter, David Kreiss-Tomkins, Laura Lund, Elizabeth Parr, and Aleah Zody, directed by Wendy Walker.

RISE & DANCE STUDIO WORK HARD, PLAY HARD. Fairbanks’ most unique and coolest dance studio. We offer kids 5 to adult classes. Kids Hip Hop, street Hip Hop, animation, Jazz-funk. Adult Dance class and H.I.I.T workout classes.

Jean Mcdermott, Fiddle, Multi-Instrumentalist, & Singerjeanfiddlesatairportawg

Playing mostly violin music from Appalachia to Scotland and Scandinavia and beyond. But a “guest instrument” will make an appearance, too! Viola, ukulele and guitar are all candidates.There may be an occasional human musical guest, too. Jean McDermott is a music instructor at Tartan Tundra Music. She has played violin since she was 9.

Louise first heard an accordion in Kotzebue, Alaska, a village north of the Arctic Circle. She was immediately smitten by this LouiseKowalskiAccordionmost versatile, portable, and joyous instrument, and now enjoys sharing it with others. She invites listeners to enjoy a summer evening in Fairbanks, and a variety of music from different parts of the globe, polkas included. Please join her and John, the drummer,  who are also known as “Good Enough”. Singing, dancing, humming, toe tapping, and juggling are welcome accompaniments!

Tundra Caravan is a Fairbanks’ premier Middle Eastern dance troupe. Formed in 2001, our mission is to entertain & educate audiences with Middle Eastern music and dance. Our diverse dance repertoire includes traditional, contemporary, and fusion styles of belly dance from the Middle East, India, Near East & North Africa.

Triple Play, String Trio

“Triple Play” is a string trio consisting of brothers Jonathan (violin) and JoshuaTriple Play (cello), and their sister Audrey (violin). As young musicians, they have grown up in Fairbanks learning music through the Suzuki method as part of the Fairbanks School of Talent Education. They also participate in the Fairbanks Youth Orchestra and the Alaska Cello Intensive. Their music is a blend of their classical music repertoire, along with popular music selections that they have arranged for string trio. The name of their group, Triple Play, is a nod to one of their other favorite pastimes – baseball!

Martin Miller, Storytelling

Old Pete came to Alaska in the 1880s to “Teach those folks how to mine gpub2018aold.” Along the way he had more than one adventure.

Join Martin Miller, Storyteller to hear how Old Pete came to be known as Grizly Pete, and changed the way gold mining was done in Alaska forever.

Martin tells traditional and original folk tales, the occasional Robert Service verse, and (once in a while) juggles before and after the show.
