Artist Joel Isaak is the juror for the 2017 Fairbanks Arts Association Spring Juried Exhibition. Isaak expresses himself through a variety of mediums, such as acrylic painting, ceramics, glass, wood, metal, and often including natural materials such as halibut, salmon, and moose skin. He received his BFA in Sculpture from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and his MFA in Sculpture from Alfred University. His cast bronze and salmon skin works are featured in the permanent collections of the Sheldon Jackson Museum, Ted Stevens International Airport, and the Kenaitze Indian Tribe. Isaak will spend the day judging the artwork submitted for Convergence. In the evening, he will give a presentation about his work in the evening. The artwork selected for the show, however, will not be revealed until the First Friday Opening Reception April 7, 5-7pm at the Bear Gallery (3rd Floor, Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts), Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99701.
